Can someone please help identify this?

Possibly right. I’d send both the coin and the projectile to the Federal police, not the state police as they don’t have the latest technology. If the bullet has killed a chinaman, his DNA might be imbedded in the projectile. They should be able to match it using mitochondrial DNA technology to...

Can someone please help identify this?

The gold fields are full of projectiles, I know I’ve dug more bullets and bird shot than nuggets. Miners lived on what they could source locally like rabbits, Roos, birdlife etc. Coins are lost all the time for many reasons and probably a gun fight would be way down the list. If I was shot at I...

Can someone please help identify this?

I used to detect around Sofala and found about 10 Chinese coins and thousands of projectiles, bullet shells and even live rounds. It must have been a mighty battle that took place there!

    Internet coverage out bush

My returns forms I do when I’m at home, obviously after the trip or after the permit expires. my 40e gets sent to Leonora post office and I send it off while I’m there in civilization well before I’m out of range. The paperwork is so simple why does it stress you out?

    Whinge of the day thread...

Agree with mbasko, thats as silly and as thoughtless as throwing a bucket of blood on the poor kid stacking the meat cabinet because you’re a vegan. Seriously though, did you do it and if so how did it go or were you all talk? My son is one of those poor kids working his butt off at woolies...

    Tibooburra Gold.....a beginners "El Dorado."

Not much weight in a fly net so it shouldn’t push your luggage allowance over the limit. You could even wear it on the plane if it doesn’t fit in your carry on so I’d bring it even if you don’t end up needing it.

    Fools gold or real gold

If it was a petrified or fossilized skull of some sea creature, shame something that could have been of historic significance was destroyed

Selling gold - how, why, where

Commercial gold buyer yes, private sales are different. He’s selling nuggets not bullion. I sell 99% of my gold to private buyers and usually $95+ per gram. Even many commercial buyers will give you a premium for larger or jewellery suitable pieces.

Looking for a bit of opinions.

Cost. More than just a PL with a POW, you’re talking small scale mining on an ML Finding the right ground not already covered by an ML would be a trick. Most quartz reefs are barren.
