There seems to be a lot of false information regarding Palmerville Station (Palmer River Goldfields)
The facts:
1. The road in from the highway "Whites Creek road " has just been graded and all the creek crossings fixed up.
2. Palmerville Station Campgrounds @ Cannibal Creek is 42 klm from the highway, accessible by 2WD vehicles and Caravans.
3. Due to the nature of the rugged terrain, a quad bike or SxS buggy is recommended to get around.
4. For 3 years now those without the above, have had no issue getting about in a decent 4x4, there is an abundance of well used tracks.
5. The general fossicking area is 100 sq klm
6. The season pass area inc the general area is 800 sq klm.
7. Don't ever mention flogged out, no such thing, first timers and rookies are all finding gold, most on their first day.
8. Some prospectors have returned 7 times, spending up to a month at a time.
9. Last year many of the full time seasonal prospectors got a kilo or more.
10. The fees are perfectly reasonable around $30 per day/night, to camp and prospect in the general area, with free access to a hot shower, toilet, internet, and a shop with basic provisions and fuel.
11. There are managers onsite to assist and offer advice for those that have no idea, or have done no research and have no game plan.
12. For the serious prospectors a season pass @ $3000 is a bargain (1oz) works out to $58 per week or $8 per day, where in the world can you go for a 12 month holiday and live / camp and prospect for this amount.
13. Besides wild barra in the river, there are 3 stocked dams with Barra now over 80cm and plenty of huge redclaw.
